It’s Hot Outside: Global Warming
January 28th, 2009
Al Gore, inventor of the internet and global warming, is going to plead his case to the Senate today. Despite how cold you think you are, the Earth is getting warmer!
That’s right, the snow you see outside, or the sub-freezing temperatures that you are experiencing are just an illusion. You are not cold. You are not shoveling. You are not drinking hot cocoa.
Al Gore should be locked away in a room with rubber walls. The man is nuts. Perhaps losing to GW in 2000 tweaked something in his medulla oblongata that caused him to go off the deep end.
The trouble with Global Warming is that the effects are not immediately apparent because they are not dramatic. The effects are subtle.
Just because we are not going to the beach in January, does not mean that Global Warming is not occurring. It is a fact that we are polluting the environment and are emitting gasses into the atmosphere which are causing a shift (very small that is not felt) in the temperatures of our oceans.
These small variations of just a few degrees on a large scale will cause the deterioration of our polar ice caps, increasing water levels. Warmer waters(again just few degrees over time on a large scale) will lead to more dramatic and deadly hurricanes which feed from warmer ocean temperatures.
The key to this debate is what are we going to do to stop it. Not how dramatic the immediate change. Just like we don’t judge the size of a desert by how minute each grain of sand is, so we shouldn’t underestimate the ripple effect of a small amount of temperature change.
The time is now to look for a solution that will slow and eventually stop this from getting out of control.
@Tom Kruk
Considering that humans are responsible for only 3% of the co2, i’m not quite sure how we are going to put a stop to mother nature running her course.
You know I was watching CNN last night with all of the ills of the world and I remembered this post. I think we can all use a little global warming. Don’t you think? Why can’t we all just get along?
